Joining dating sites at such a young age

So recently I have decided to try a sort of experiment. I decided to find out what it would be like to join a dating site. So I made an eharmony and match.com account. So for the next two months I’m going to be sharing my experience on these sites as well as reviewing them.

Nowadays I find that my generation aren’t into the dating scene the way it used to be. We tend to get into whirlwind romances (if that’s our thing) and when it doesn’t work we move onto the next. We also created Tinder so if that doesn’t say anything about our dating lives then I don’t know what does. Now I don’t know about the rest of you single readers but I plan on settling down one day. I am perfectly comfortable on my own and certainly don’t need a man in my life but at the same time I do hold onto the old fashioned notion of growing old with someone. Currently I just feel like I am growing old by myself.

Certain someone’s in my life would be distraught if they heard that I had joined a dating site; honestly it doesn’t matter to me what they think. What I have noticed so far was a little more shocking than I was expecting. So eharmony is the site I am currently focused on at the moment and when you create your account you answer a series of questions. I won’t go into too much detail in this post but it’s probably more specific than you think. You set an age group of the available people you want to meet and I set mine (and no one freak out please! Trust me I know how it sounds, but for the purposes of getting a good idea of how this all works I had to do it!) to ages 25-53. Now I don’t intend to actually date anyone older than forty in my life, unless Chris Pine or Keanu Reeves crosses my path. But in all seriousness I wanted to really find out what goes on behind the curtain of dating online.

Well as I was saying with the age range I had set my account to I was immediately matched to 36 men of all ages in my range. Within a day I had 16 messages. The oldest guy to have sent me a message so far was 52. I won’t lie it was totally surprising, I expected it in a way but not nearly this crazy. I have only been matched and contacted from guys in my generation about 4 times. Today would be day four on this site. Up to today I have received over forty messages and been matched to about sixty guys.

So this will be a journey and we will take it together and we’ll see what happens!
